San Juan, PR. – The success of the MECFF’s 2024 charity gala exceeded all expectations, surpassing $400,000.00 in funds raised, to be donated in their entirety to the nonprofit organizations supported by the Foundation.
Mark Curry, founder of the organization, and his children, along with major MECFF donors Mike and Tina Hodges, presented checks for the full amount raised to the following organizations: Casa de Niños Manuel Fernández Juncos, Crearte, Hermanas Carmelitas Teresas de San José, Hogar Albergue para Niños Jesús de Nazaret, Hogar Cuna San Cristóbal, Hogar del Niño Ave María, Hogar Niñas de Cupey, Hogar Niñito Jesús, Fundación A–Mar, Fundación de Niños de Puerto Rico, Gogo Foundation, Alianza para Un Puerto Rico Sin Drogas, Adopta Ahora, Hogar Albergue Niños de San Germán, and Fundación Rimas.
During the presentation, Mark Curry reaffirmed his commitment to Puerto Rico and his dedication to working alongside the selected organizations toward the well-being of children and women who are victims of violence. Curry also announced his goal of surpassing $1 million in donations in order to expand the circle of organizations that he and the MECFF team wish to support. Meanwhile, Miguel Príncipe, president of the Foundation, expressed his commitment to raising awareness in society so that it may join the fight to eradicate child abuse and poverty in Puerto Rico.
During the gala, more than 250 guests enjoyed music by DJ Negro and Iván Robles, and the cuisine of Luis Dana’s restaurant Ropa Vieja. Entertainment provided by SAK Entertainment included fire eaters, Venetian stilt walkers, iconic characters from Italian and French masquerade balls, with the evening closing with a performance by soprano Camila Otero. The transformation of the Puerto Rico Museum of Art’s space into a luxurious ballroom was the work of Emilio Olabarrieta Atelier, with lighting and sound by Music Factory.
